Job description

Responsibilities

Giving technical support to senior staff in their work on large-scale engineering projects.

Gathering data on exhilarating conditions at construction sites, including soil conditions, land elevations, or seismic activity.

Performing surveys to gather information about existing conditions and to determine how best to implement new designs.

Conducting calculations by hand or using computer software programs to estimate material requirements and other engineering specifications.

Formulating construction plans for building roads, bridges, sewer systems, pipelines, or other structures.

Administering tests to measure physical properties such as the tensile strength of materials.

Educating drawings, sketches charts, and schematics to document proposals for new construction projects.

Compiling samples of materials to test their physical properties using lab equipment such as electron microscopes, and ultrasonic testing devices.

Formulating reports that details findings from research projects and summarized conclusions reached by the team.

Experimenting with new construction materials and methods to recommend improvements to existing designs.

Evaluating blueprints and other design documents to ensure that they meet the code requirement.

Performing studies to determine how to best use available resources, such as land or water, to meet community needs.

Harmonizing with architects and other designers to ensure that plans meet the needs of the client while meeting government regulation that might apply to specific projects.

Carrying out other duties as assigned by the team lead.

Requirements

Must be a recent graduate with at least a bachelor’s degree or HND in civil engineering or a related field.

0–1 year experience in the construction space.

Minimum of 2nd class lower or lower credit.

High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility.

Working knowledge of the construction industry.

Solid analytical and mathematical skills.

Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

 

Job Description

We are looking for a recent graduate willing to learn and gain first-hand experience working as geological technician. You will be working alongside geologists in gathering, researching, and testing geological samples using state of the heart equipment’s.

Responsibilities:

Receiving, labeling, and safely storing geological samples to be tested

Laboratory Material collection, catalogue finding supervising and organizing research.

Cleaning, maintenance, setting up and recalibration of all laboratory equipment’s.

Collecting relevant specimens such as rocks and soil and preparing them for lab analysis following Standard Operating Procedures.

Maintaining equipment records and daily work logs.

Meticulous record keeping and database management.

Determining and performing lab tests needed for analysis and report.

Recording tests and compiling data for analysis and then reporting the results.

Discussing and answering any questions regarding the test results.

Organizing and storing earth samples in accordance with all safety and other requirements to ensure the safety and integrity of samples. Other responsibilities as may be assigned by the team lead.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Bachelor of Science in Geology or applied sciences such as chemistry, physics.

Minimum of a second-class lower degree from a reputable institution.

0–1-year experience working as a laboratory technician.

Familiarity with basic geological computer programmes designed specifically for analysing samples using geological data.

Great scientific reasoning and mechanical knowhow.

Exceptional problem-solving abilities approaching them with logic and reasoning.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential for team-based working.

Exceptional analytical, mechanical, and organizational skills required for our constantly evolving environment.

Proven time management skills, able to work under pressure and a strong attention to detail.

Strong research capabilities and a willingness to learn new analytical tests, instrumentation, and procedures.

Highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges.

Able to prioritize effectively, balance assigned task.

Ensures full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.

PREFERRED:

Recent graduate not more than 2 years.

Great scientific reasoning and mechanical knowhow.

Knowledge in geological and geotechnical interpretation with understanding of geological origin and processes.

Report writing and paperwork filing. 

Evidence of personal investment in academic or extracurricular field.
